1 Man Killed, 1 Arrested in South Central Montana Shooting

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — One man is dead and another has been arrested in a New Year’s Eve shooting in south central Montana.

44 Richard Allen Bowers was shot and killed at an apartment building in Big Timber just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Sweet Grass County Sheriff’s Office said. Officers responded immediately and 42 Kevin Walla was arrested in an apartment, Sheriff Alan Ronneberg told the Billings Gazette.

Both men are from Big Timber, a city of about 1,600 people.

Ronneberg declined to answer further questions, including who reported the shooting, because the investigation is not complete.
