A gun control group funded by former NYC mayor and media billionaire Michael Bloomberg is behind the effort to stage a student walkout from the Billings schools.

This idea would have been mocked just days ago as conspiracy theory, but now is documented that the Bloomberg-backed "Moms Demand Action" is behind efforts to get students to stage a walkout, even right here in Montana.

Here's what was buried in the middle of this Billings Gazette article about the planned walkout:

The group was organized after students were contacted by local members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, a gun control advocacy group, about organizing a March for Our Lives chapter in Billings. About 20 students from Billings' three public high schools are in the group.

What wasn't in the article? The fact that "Moms Demand Action" is a front group funded by former NYC mayor and media billionaire Michael Bloomberg.

Representatives of the Montana chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Everytown for Gun Safety gathered to express strong opposition to SB 143 (concealed carry on college campuses), HB 598 (Gun Owners Access to Justice Act), and HB 298 (allowing concealed carry in city limits without a permit) claiming that the proposals would make Montana a more dangerous place.

Overall, Bloomberg has pledged $50 million to Everytown and its subordinate groups to fight for stricter gun-control laws at the state and local levels.

KULR8-TV also reports that one student launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the protests, prompting one online commenter to remark, "Why should I pay you to skip school!"

Meanwhile, as the Left targets the NRA, some companies are now breaking any affiliation with the gun-rights group, which garnered this response from Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) via Twitter:

I’m a Diamond frequent flyer on @Delta and @NRA Lifetime Member. I’m looking for a new airline.

As for the Democrats, The Hill reports that Democrats want gun control, but worry that it will cost them the elections coming up in 2018.  The Weekly Standard adds that if Democrats were really that concerned about gun control, they should primary Senate Democrats in the 2018 midterms.
