One grand jury in New York, and another in Missouri, won’t indict two white police officers in the deaths of two black men. These stories look the same, but they’re not. Make a case for injustice in each separate incident if you want, but connecting the two denies the facts and the bigger picture. According to FBI statistics, most murder victims know the murder. According to Politifact, “…the majority of black murder victims are murdered by blacks…[and]…most whites are murdered by whites.” (Close Quote). One race murdering another is a thumbnail view in the bigger picture: people kill people, regardless of race or color. What a horrible image! No wonder we’re afraid to face it and prefer to hide behind fear of people who appear different than ourselves. I’m E. Curtis Johnson. American isn’t divided racially because of a lack of indictments in New York or Missouri.  We’re divided because we still parse our murders by skin color rather than admitting, without prejudice, that human beings murder other human beings.
