Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) hasn't been much of an advocate for Crow Coal, or the labor union jobs in Colstrip, Montana. That being said, you gotta at least give him credit for laughing at the craziness which is known as the "Green New Deal."

Those who wish to see the Colstrip plants close won’t allow the facts to get in the way of negative headline. They tout a huge cleanup figure to promote their goal – full closure and complete reclamation of the Colstrip plant site. By making the cleanup appear to be so costly they hope that the plant owners will have no choice but to shut it down. Distortions of the truth meant to cause fear and scare the public with inflated price tags in order to speed up the plant’s demise are simply irresponsible.

Public utility regulators Tuesday voted to approve the proposed sale of Avista Corporation to a Canadian power company – including a $4.5 million payment to the city of Colstrip. Montana Senator Steve Daines will be hosting his second Montana Energy Summit in Billings, set for May 30 and 31, where attendees will discuss Montanan’s energy infrastructure and the good paying jobs that the industry creates.

The Billings Gazette reports that the Trump administration plan to kill the Obama-Era Clean Power Plan does little for Montana’s coal industry.  Colstrip, the second-largest coal-fired power plant in the West, is facing opposition on various levels that will likely close the Montana plant long before the Clean Power Plan’s prescribed cuts to carbon dioxide emissions would have been realized anyway
