I ran the NFL, all team names would have a tie-in to the communities they play in. The Dallas “Cowboys” is a perfect name for a Texas team. The “Dolphins” play in Miami and the “Patriots” play in New England, of course. Not so much for the Titans from Greek mythology, who have no connection to Tennessee. Bengal tigers never prowled the jungles of Cincinnati. The Rams started in Cleveland, Ohio, then played in Los Angeles for over four decades before becoming the St. Louis Rams. The answer to what connection male sheep have in common with those three cities, is the same as the number of times the Vikings have won the Super Bowl, and what interest NFL owners have in the average fan: zero. Since the move back to L.A. is about one thing – money – under my NFL rules, the old L.A. and St. Louis Rams would become the new Los Angeles “Gold Diggers.” I’m E. Curtis Johnson. “Gold Diggers” reflects one Los Angeles attribute and describes what much of professional athletics have become.
