Penalize Homeowners for Weeds and Tall Grass but Do Not Pay City Employees to Do What They Are Already Paid to Do [Opinion]
If a property owner in Billings has weeds or tall grass that has to be removed by the city and they refuse after notification, they should be ticketed.
Failure to comply should result in a larger fine, then not complying should result in a warrant just like unpaid parking tickets.
However. they should not have to pay the city employees to do it. They are getting paid to do whatever job the city needs done. If you have a fire and it's your fault, like leaving the stove on, etc., you don't have to pay the fire department to put it out.
Enforce the law but don't try to exploit revenue to pay for employees' required duties.
