NASA wants to build a space station in the clouds above Venus. The idea has been named, “High Altitude Venus Operation Concept with the acronym: H.A.V.O.C. Does NASA stand for: Negative Acronym Scary Analogy? NASA’s rocket scientists may be smarter than a 5th grader, but a junior copywriter wouldn’t give a life sustaining space station a name that means wide spread destruction. How about, “Best Western Venus?” That’s inviting! NASA’s Venus concept would be similar to Bespin, the cloud city in Star Wars: Episode V, were Darth Vader utters to Luke Skywalker, the epic line, “I am your father!” Luke’s reply to Vader, of, “Noooo! Nooo!” is also an appropriate reply to NASA calling a space station, “H.A.V.O.C.” I’m E. Curtis Johnson. I support space exploration. However, NASA should stick to the math and science of building a cloud city above Venus. Naming it “H.A.V.O.C.” proves that the Force is not with NASA.
