The five month-old baby miraculously rescued after being left in the woods near Lolo Hot Springs has been released from a local hospital.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Missoula County Sheriff's Deputy Ross Jessup described the child's condition when he was found lying face down under a pile of sticks and brush.

"He was coughing a little bit, and he actually coughed up a few sticks out of his mouth, said Jessup. "He was cold, and even though you could tell he was comforted by the appearance of humans and the contact of being swallowed up in a down blanket, he was obviously distressed, because he was done. He was alert, but he was tired."

Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst released more information about the baby's condition on Wednesday afternoon.

"There are medical assessments of the baby that are ongoing," Pabst began. "Yesterday, he was released from the hospital and he was placed into protective care by the Montana Department of Health and Human Services Child and Family Services."

The suspect, Francis Crowley is in the Missoula County Jail on $200,000 bond.
