Shell Oil and Lego have cross-promoted their products for years. The Shell logo appears on some Lego building-block kits. Lego’s are sold in Shell stations across the world. As a protest against Shell drillingGreenpeace produced a video that went viral, as a protest against Shell drilling in the Arctic. The video is an arctic scene built from Lego blocks and characters that is slowly drowned in oil and ends with the caption, “Shell is polluting OUR KIDS imaginations. Tell Lego to end its partnership with Shell.” CLOSE QUOTE One million people did what Greenpeace asked for and the Danish toy company ended its 50-year relationship with Shell. Apparently the Dane’s have no word for, cojones, but I digress. My name is E. Curtis Johnson. I have less love for big oil than I have for stepping on Lego blocks in my bare feet. I know the legal limits of corporations. Where does Greenpeace stop as self proclaimed judge, jury and protector of the planet that accounts to no one? After Greenpeace saves the planet from people, who saves people from Greenpeace?
