KGVO News spoke with Missoula Marathon Race Director Tony Banovich on Tuesday, and preparations for the popular weekend are almost complete.

"So far, we've sold out the 5k, that's 1,200 people," Banovich said. "For the half-marathon, we are at 3,400 or 3,500 people right now, and for the full marathon, we're at about 1,200. There's still plenty of room for more entrants in the half and full marathon. We had a big boost right after Runner's World Magazine readers picked us as America's Best Marathon in 2010, and we've been making slow gains ever since."

Banovich said packet pick-up time for the 5k would be Friday evening at Caras Park, in conjunction with the annual beer run, and then the 5k run will be Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Missoula.

"We also have a Kids Marathon on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with packet pick-up either in the basement of the Runner's Edge in downtown Missoula, or on race morning for the KId's Marathon down at the Boone and Crockett Club. Then, for both the full and half marathons, their packet pick-up will be on Saturday at Caras Park, then the full and half marathon will both start at 6 a.m."

"We look for people to take the buses to the starting lines of the full and half marathons because we really don't have any parking either in Frenchtown for the full marathon, or at the Peak Health Center for the half-marathon," Banovich continued. " We load those shuttle buses from the Adams Center at the University of Montana starting at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday."

Banovich said there are still opportunities to register for the half and full marathon by visiting the Run Wild Missoula website, in addition, they are still seeking volunteers to help with the races, and that can also be accessed through the Run Wild Missoula website.
