Google’s success is attracting scrutiny. The European Union’s Parliament voted to breakup Google. Here’s the hypocrisy. Combining different countries to control a marketplace, is called, The European Union. Combining companies under one name to control a marketplace would be a monopoly. “Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door” isn’t entirely true. Become too successful and the world will beat your mousetrap down to size and tell you that you can’t manufacture mousetrap bait. The EU’s vote against Google teaches us: (1) Better mousetraps attract rats. (2) Fear of big companies is progressive. (3) Fear of big government is paranoia. The EU Parliament only has symbolic power, but its vote ignores that fact that consumer’s choose Google over its competitors: Bing, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Blackberry, to name a few. I’m E. Curtis Johnson. Rest easy, citizens. Government bureaucrats, who don’t know the difference between competition and constipation, will always be there to tell us we when we choose poorly.
