As a kid in the late 1960’s, I remember my Dad giving me a quarter and sending me to get gas for the lawn mower. At 29 cents a gallon, I could almost fill the can. Gas was the outrageous price of 40 cents a gallon when I started driving. We thought the world was ending when gas hit the dollar mark in the 1970’s. Now there are claims that falling prices signal another economic collapse, similar to the economic bubble burst of 2008. Other experts rebut such claims. Is it the Republicans, the Democrats, or the Illuminati that controls the price of gas? Forget that “The Jetson’s” and “Back To The Future II” led us to believe we’d have flying cars by 2015. Instead of such lofty dreams, we’re brought down to earth with the reality that we’re overly dependent on a liquid that fuels our cars. My name is E. Curtis Johnson. Other than I’m now paying less money at the pump, I don’t know the meaning of the political or economic consequences of falling gas prices. And I’m going to celebrate my ignorance by taking a walk or going on a bike ride!
