In the 2012 playoffs, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose went down with a season-ending ACL injury. That injury cost him the entire 2013 season, and may have cost the Bulls a real title shot.

A torn anterior cruciate ligament is no laughing matter. Many players are never the same again. At just 24 years old, Rose has a good shot at a full recovery, but nothing is certain.

Miami eliminated Chicago from the NBA playoffs on Wednesday night with a 94-91 win. The question is, would Rose have made a major difference? The Heat are playing unbelievably good basketball, and it's possible the series would have ended last night even if Rose had played.
