“Breaking Bad” star Brian Cranston has a hit that doesn’t involve meth. Cranston stars in, “Godzilla,” that opened to $196.2 million in domestic and international sales. I haven’t seen the movie, but corporate cost cutting may have struck the Japanese monster movie industry. In the latest of the 30-something Godzilla remakes, Godzilla flies for the first time. In the past, the flying roles went to Mothra.

I predict that Mothra was downsized to create a plot twist for a mash up of “Breaking Bad” and “Godzilla.” In this spinoff, Mothra is diagnosed with a terminal disease. Frustrated at not providing for her millions of larvae, Mothra and Brian Cranston reopen open the meth lab. This is as plausible as any Godzilla remake.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. Japanese movie monsters don’t frighten me. I’m terrified by other Japanese imports, such as, “Hello Kittie,” the Nissan Cube, and Yoko Ono. A gigantic mutated lizard; meh! Movie tickets for $12 to $16, $6 sodas, $8 buckets of popcorn; now that’s frightening!
