Two women innocently entered the news from opposite sides of a problem. Sabina Altynbekova, a youth volleyball player on Kazakhstan’s youth team, was labeled, “Too hot to play team sports.” Tanis Jex-Blake is a 33-year-old Canadian mother of five who became the latest fat shaming victim when a picture, of her less-than super-model sunbathing body, went viral on social media.

Both women basically replied that they couldn’t care less whether people think they’re hot or not. Good for them! Women aren’t dragged through caves by their hair anymore. Unfortunately, they’re still run through the public gauntlet of the ever changing and false standard of body type. Its as if women exist only to satisfy men’s sweet tooth for eye candy. To play with the title of a current pornographic book and movie, masquerading as art, 50 Shades of Sexism only fuels, and will never satisfy, society’s lust for the female form.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson.  Beauty may be only skin-deep and in the eye of the beholder, but ignorant and dangerous stereotyping goes all the way to the bone.
