The Wall Street Journal broke the story and multiple news sources are reporting the NFL wants halftime acts to pay to perform. Currently, the acts perform for free. Here’s the bean counter logic: since the audience is huge, a Super Bowl performance boosts a singing artist’s career. NFL executives should be taken into locker room and snapped in the butt with a wet towel, because that’s where their heads are.

If an artist is big enough play at the Super Bowl additional publicity isn’t needed.  I’ve spent three decades in radio rubbing shoulders with these artists. Along with some of the NFL players, large stadiums are needed because of the size of the egos. Paying to perform will fly as well as the Goodyear blimp inflated with nacho cheese sauce. Extend the NFL’s pay to perform logic, and star NFL players should forfeit their salaries because NFL exposure for players results in rich product endorsements.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. I knew that some NFL players, unfortunately, suffer from concussions. I didn’t realize NFL executives suffered from brain damage.
