I find it humorous that the mile high city is in the first state to legalize and regulate recreational marijuana use. Colorado’s social experiment with cannabis is producing some unintended consequences. The state is having a hard time monitoring marijuana tax revenues.

Even though the U.S Treasury allows Colorado’s banks to take pot deposits, few banks will do business with weed merchants because pot is still against federal law. The state legislator is setting up a special banking infrastructure just for Colorado’s budding sticky icky icky industry.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. If I were a Colorado legislator, all pot banks would have to look like large can safes. To my dope smokin’ friends, you’d have to be high to think that government is interested in giving you the right to the recreational use of marijuana. The green the government is interested in isn’t sweet leaf. Government just wants to Bogart your cash, man. Bummer, dude!
