Hollywood is considering a remake of the 1960 blockbuster, “The Magnificent Seven.” I’m not making this up. In the original movie, a poor Mexican village hires seven American gunslingers to protect them from bandits.

My name is E. Curtis Johnson. To me, remaking a Western staring Steven McQueen is like repainting the Mona Lisa. Some things should be left alone. I’m afraid a remake of “The Magnificent Seven” could be adversely influenced by current affairs. For example, instead of hiring seven gunslingers, the Mexican Village is invaded by the open carry militia left over from the Bundy Ranch.

Or, the village doesn’t need protection from the bandits because Libertarians win political office, drugs are decriminalized in the U.S. and the bandits go out of business. Or, Liberals take total control of the U.S. and outlaw guns. Then the Mexican village can only defend itself by getting weapons directly from Eric Holder.
