High Tech Trolls – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson

VHS players long went the way of other technological dinosaurs like actual human conversation not involving texts, tweets or Facebook. I never did learn how to program VHS players, but I am addicted to social media.  My sons are amazed I can operate an electric can opener, let along use Twitter or Facebook. Trolls are people who hide in anonymity in cyberspace.

Yik Yak is the latest app that allows people to become trolls. Like other apps before it, Yik Yak operates in hyper-local zones, like a school campus. Students can say anything about anyone without identifying themselves. Young girls are usually the victims of these apps with personal attacks that are often vicious and always anonymous. If you have children in school, call the Principal and ask if Yik Yak is blocked from campus.
