BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The former director of the VA Montana Health Care System has accepted a permanent position at the agency's regional office in Denver.

Robin Korogi was assigned there in April while the VA investigated why an eight-bed acute care wing of a psychiatric hospital at Fort Harrison hadn't opened, despite being completed in June 2011. That investigation continues.

Several high-level managers with VA Montana called for Korogi's resignation, citing low staff morale and her inability to hire inpatient psychiatrists to staff the acute care wing.

VA Salt Lake City Health Care System Director Steve Young has been serving as interim director in Montana. The VA says it could take several months to hire a director.

The Associated Press reports  it was not immediately clear Monday what Korogi will be doing for the VA Rocky Mountain Network.
