Cheering For Leering – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson [OPINION]

Alleging below minimum wage pay, former Bengal and Raider cheerleaders are suing. Former Buffalo Bill’s cheerleaders are suing for pay and alleged sexual harassment. I side with the cheerleaders. I understand why men gawk at women in tight, revealing outfits. I don’t understand why women let men get away with this behavior.

The male gender stands accused of not being able to focus on two things at once. So, if you force men to choose between professional cheerleaders or professional football, most men will choose the game. Which is a more damning judgment: that men are rutting pigs or that we prefer watching grown men give each other concussions over watching beautiful women? What of these cheerleaders? Would they feel worse knowing they’re being used and are underpaid or that if they left the NFL few people would care?
