Abby Road is the name of a street, a recording studio, and legendary Beatles album. I was 9-years-old when the Beatles released what I’ll argue is the band’s best.  The “Abby Road” album’s cover is iconic and indelible in the minds eye of a generation. AFP News reports that the Westminster Council is considering hiring a permanent crosswalk attendant for where John, Paul, George, and Ringo posed for the famous photo.

Forty-five years later, the crosswalk in front of Abby Road Studios is a constant tourist attraction and problematic traffic jam. Forty-five years from now, don’t count on any municipality having crowd control problems in front of the studios where long forgotten pseudo-artists won fleeting popularity on TV shows. There’s a difference between Abby Road and the road kill littering the path to fame produced by shows like “American Idol” and “The Voice.”

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. Pardon my nostalgia for when music fame was earned and not won by how many texts an “artist” received on a TV show.
