The following is a direct transcription of Senator Steve Daines' comments as he was preparing to board a plane departing from the Rio Grande security zone and headed to McAllen, Texas just after 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Montana's Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) is also weighing in. He is supporting legislation along with several other Republican Senators that would remove that provision from the COVID relief bill.

"This is racism." That's how Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) summed up the race-based farm loan forgiveness plan that was snuck into the COVID relief bill by the Democrats. He's referring to the nearly $5 billion in spending for "socially disadvantaged farmers" to get loan forgiveness from the US Department of Agriculture.

What a contrast. The Montana Legislature is moving forward to put in place reasonable restrictions on abortion (as much as many of you would like to see it ended entirely). Meanwhile, President Biden put forward a nominee to lead the Health & Human Services Department who couldn't even state one reasonable limit on abortion he would support.

She's on the record opposing fracking. She's on the record opposing oil and gas drilling on federal land. She's on the record opposing pipelines. And, she couldn't even answer basic questions about wildlife management. She also happens to be President Biden's pick to head up the Interior Department and oversee hundreds of millions of acres of federal land.

Well that didn't take long. Former President Donald Trump has now been acquitted by the United States Senate....AGAIN. I don't know about you, but I'm glad we didn't waste too much of our time on that circus of an impeachment...AGAIN. Although, I do have to be honest- I kind of hope the Democrat-led US Senate would keep wasting more time on this...

The Senate has yet to schedule a confirmation hearing for interior Secretary nominee Deb Haaland.

"After voting for the measure to support the pipeline, Sens. Joe Manchin and Jon Tester voted against it, joining the rest of the Democratic caucus early Friday in passing an amendment by Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer to strip the Keystone XL language from the budget resolution."

"President Trump is no longer president, and guess what the chief justice is not presiding. So I don't believe there is a constitutional grounds to do this for a departed president. I call on Biden, stop this nonsense. We need to keep moving the country forward."
