The controversy over shooting a white deer isn’t black and white. Eleven-year-old Gavin Dingman shot an albino buck during Michigan’s bow season. The kid is getting flack over shooting what some consider a “special” animal. The same controversy happened last year when an albino was shot in Nova Scotia, Canada. Some people claim albino animals are unique and should be left alive. I’m not a hunter. I am pro-gun and pro-gun safety. Unfortunately, political correctness has shot itself in the foot. Albino deer and moose aren’t any more special than two headed chickens or other scientific abnormalities. Thinning game is a necessary part of wildlife management. Human activity eliminated the predators that would have kept the deer population in check. As part of a scientific game management system, these hunters shot legal game, not unicorns that fart rainbows. I’m the freak of nature named, E. Curtis Johnson. Speaking of science, do albino unicorns fart in color or monochrome? I wonder if science has an answer for that question?
