STRONG, Maine (AP) — A Montana woman charged with negligent homicide in the death of her 5-month-old daughter was arrested in Maine, officials said.

Audria Shannon Nickerson, 30, was arrested Saturday at a home in Strong, Maine, and was being held Monday as a fugitive from justice at the Franklin County Detention Center.

Nickerson was found slumped over the body of her infant daughter in her vehicle in September in Butte, Montana. An autopsy determined the baby died of suffocation, and blood tests showed Nickerson had methamphetamine in her system, police said.

She was charged earlier this month in Montana. She made her first court appearance Monday before being returned to the jail. It was unclear if she had a lawyer.

Police said her baby died at a hospital after police smashed the window of her car. Another child in the backseat was turned over to the Department of Family Services, officials said.
