Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks are currently investing a poaching incident. Region Two Spokesperson Vivaca Crowser explains.

“We had a mule deer buck that was found near east of Hamilton just off of Skalkaho Highway on Gird Creek Road,” said Crowser. “It was shot and left entirely to waste and the warden investigating things said the poaching occurred on either April 15 or 16.”

According to Crowser, the public typically plays a large role in solving some of these cases.

“There was some evidence at the scene that the investigators are looking at,” Crowser said. “We are also hoping to get tips from the public, anyone that might know anything about this that could help us solve the case. Often times that is how we make progress on cases like this, from folks that are able to piece together some of the story and develop more of a lead.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call 1-800-TIP-MONT. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction.
