Many of us take the time to show respect to Veterans on Veteran's Day, but there are those who make it a year round habit. The Volunteers of America operates Independence Hall, located in the Billings Heights, which is a 20 bed, men's transitional living facility. This facility was built to help veterans reintegrate into civilian life by providing them with housing, employment services, medical assistance and other support.

Since 2009 this facility has helped more than 300 veterans transition into our community. This is a lot of work and dedication on the part of the VOA, which is the largest provider of services to Veterans and their families in Montana.

Veteran's Day is Wednesday, November 11, and you're invited to view the facility during their 6th annual open house. The open house hours are from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Guest speakers at the event include Billings Mayor Tom Hanel, County Commissioner Bill Kennedy, and City Councilman Denis Pitman. Representatives from each Congressional office will attend as will Veterans Administration dignitaries. Nick Little, newly named VOA division director for Montana, will present the keynote speech. Two Veterans currently residing at Independence Hall will also speak.
