The Gazette reports two men were seriously injured in a plane crash discovered by personnel from NorthWestern Energy near Townsend on Wednesday evening. Broadwater County Sheriff Wynn Meehan said the Cessna 180 crashed about 2 miles southwest of tiny Townsend between the Missouri River and U.S. Highway 287. Two adult males were reportedly on board, and their injuries were described as “life-threatening” However, both men were reportedly alert and able to speak with emergency medical responders. They were flown from the scene to different hospitals for treatment. Sheriff Meehan said the plane was leased and flown out of Bozeman, so authorities do not know who owns the plane. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash. Downed power lines from the accident left 130 customers without power.
