The National Weather Service has confirmed a likely EF-1 tornado touched down Monday evening in the south end of Plentywood, however, most of the damage in the area came from macro-bursts with winds of up to 120 miles an hour. Q2 reports that some of the highest wind speeds were recorded at the Plentywood Airport, where 8 hangars were totally destroyed and 10 small aircraft were damaged or destroyed. The NWS reports that winds in town hit 80-to-100 miles per hour, uprooting trees, and causing damage to homes and businesses. The severe storms hammered northeastern Montana and portions of northwest North Dakota.
