Fox Business took a look at the fastest growing jobs state by state. What made the list for Montana?

Montana: Environmental engineers - 119 percent

The financial institution looked at changes in occupations listed with the Bureau of Labor Statistics over the last 5 years and compared employment data in each state from 2014 with employment data from 2018.

It is also worth noting that environmental engineers do all kinds of jobs, some that you may not typically think of. In fact, you'll find environmental engineers employed or paid by mining operations in the state.

What do environmental engineers do? According to the BLS:

Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.

The median annual wage for environmental engineers was $87,620 in May 2018.
