The town of Pablo is in mourning after a three year-old child was run over by a 17 year-old driver on Thanksgiving day, who then fled the scene.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell said that the accident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Northwood Trailer Park in Pablo.

"A dark-colored SUV had just run over a three year-old child who was riding his bicycle, resulting in the child's death," Bell said. "The SUV then fled the scene was was reported to have been driven recklessly. Flathead Tribal Police, the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol all responded, and a trooper located the suspect vehicle in the Ronan area, and the driver was arrested."

Bell said the driver has been identified as 17 year-old Chasen Curley, who was taken into custody and charged with negligent homicide and failure to remain at the scene of a death or serious bodily injury. The victim's name was also released as three year-old Phillip Shrouds, Jr.

Bell said the investigation into the child's death is ongoing by the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol.
