In Tuesday’s Montana primary election results; state auditor Matt Rosendale will challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester in November’s general election, while incumbent Republican Congressman Greg Gianforte will face off with former state lawmaker Kathleen Williams for Montana’s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Williams and Billings attorney John Heenan were in a virtual dead heat into the wee hours of the morning. By 4am, Williams extended her lead to just over 1,700 votes with just handful precincts from rural Glacier County left to count. Rosendale defeated former state District Judge Russell Fagg of Billings in Montana’s four-way Republican Senate primary, despite the help of about $3 million in outside spending by national conservative groups like the Club for Growth supporting him. With over 80 percent of the vote tallied, Rosendale led Fagg led by 4,000 votes.
