In case you missed it, the Montana Free Press had some interesting reporting following the Montana Democrat Party convention over the weekend.

First, former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) had some bad news for Montana Democrats, as  reports:

During a luncheon speech at the party’s 2019 rules convention in Helena, former U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp posed a hypothetical question: If the 2020 election were held tomorrow, how many of the gathered delegates believed President Donald Trump would win a second term? Only a scattered few raised their hands.

“All of you should have your hands up,” Heitkamp said, citing a recent poll showing Trump’s approval rating at 44 percent, the highest of his presidency.

Aside from the wake up call from Heitkamp, what else was the big news from the MT Dem convention over the weekend? Apparently they no longer want to have committee men and women...

After considerable debate, delegates voted to remove gendered terminology from the party’s rules, replacing all uses of “committeeman” and “committeewoman” with “committee person.” The vote drew widespread applause, with half a dozen delegates rising in recognition of the milestone. State Rep. Mary Ann Dunwell of Helena, who proposed the amendment, said Democrats have been talking the talk long enough, and it is time to “walk the walk.”

“Today’s action includes everybody,” Dunwell said. “It includes cisgender, transgender, nonbinary, it includes everybody, and that’s what the Democratic party is about: inclusivity.”

It's interesting to note some of the parallels between the Montana Democrat Party convention, and a recent Socialism convention that The Daily Signa's Jarrett Stepman attended:

The conference, which had the tag line “No Borders, No Bosses, No Binaries,” contained a cross-section of the most pertinent hard-left thought in America.

On Monday, I caught up with the Flathead's Frank Miele over breakfast at Sykes Diner in Kalispell. Miele was the longtime editor of the Daily Inter Lake newspaper in Kalispell, and now has his own Heartland Diary USA blog, which recently got quoted by Rush Limbaugh.
