A snowmobiler reportedly broke his back in an accident on the Two Top Trail about 10 miles south west of West Yellowstone, Montana just after noon on Saturday.  The West Yellowstone Police Department Dispatch was notified.

When rescue personnel arrived they found a 48-year-old male from Idaho who had broken his back.  KTVQ.com reports that the injury occurred when the man landed hard after attempting a seven-foot jump.  The man was transported off the mountain by his friends so rescuers were able to meet him at the trailhead.

He was then taken to the hospital in Rexburg, Idaho by ambulance.  The man was later transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for additional medical care. The Sheriff’s office reminds people to always ride with a partner and carry a reliable means of communication in case of an emergency.
