A law that not only severely affects Montana's farmers and ranchers, but all landowners in the United States, the EPA's Waters Of The United States Rule, has been stopped in the Senate. The WOTUS rule would expand the EPA's definition of what constitutes our nation's water ways to include such things as isolated ponds and even ditches that may occasionally contain water.

Montana Sen. Steve Daines took the Senate floor to express his gratitude in this bipartisan decision and to echo concerns of Montana's landowners and agriculture industries. Daines holds that the proposed WOTUS rule is an example of extreme federal government overreach and he will continue to fight against such proposed regulations that take land resource decisions out of the hands of Montanans.
