GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A Poplar man who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the August 2017 death of his 6-month-old daughter has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.

The Great Falls Tribune reports Dennis Lloyd Red Boy was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Brian Morris.

Prosecutors said Red Boy put his crying baby on a bed with a heavy blanket over her and when he checked on her an hour later she had died.

He was initially charged with second-degree murder and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in February.
