BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Police in Billings are investigating two home invasion robberies in which elderly women, including two nuns, were assaulted and credit cards stolen.

Officers say someone broke into a house shortly before midnight Tuesday, threw a 76-year-old woman to the ground several times and took her credit cards and her car.

At about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, two men broke into a house and assaulted two nuns. Neighbors say they took a credit card and a television.

Tavell Peete tells The Billings Gazette that 90-year-old Sister Mary Vincentia Maronicktold her one man beat her with a stool while another man yelled at 79-year-old Sister Clara Scherr, asking for "the code" — apparently the pin number for a credit card.

The nuns suffered cuts, bruises and broken or separated bones.
