The Nancy Pelosi-led House of Representatives is advancing gun control legislation on Capitol Hill.  Congressman Greg Gianforte today voted against the measure earlier this week, adding:

This legislation targets law-abiding gun owners and fails to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals. The bill makes it illegal for a domestic abuse victim to borrow a gun from a friend for protection, unless the threat is imminent. And nothing in the bill would have prevented recent tragedies of mass violence.

Instead, the bill is a dangerous step toward a national gun registry which I strongly oppose. I stand ready to work with lawmakers on a bipartisan approach to prevent mass violence while also protecting and defending the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners.
