A 39-year-old Billings man is dead following a vehicle-bicycle accident shortly before 7 a.m. Monday.

Billings police officers were called out at 6:47 a.m. to Sixth Street bypass and Swords Lane.where a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle, according to Lt. Casey Hafner.

Officers determined that a 35-year-old Billings man driving a 2003 Ford pickup struck the bicyclist near the pedestrian crossway. The 39-year-old male was transported and later was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to Hafner

It has not been determined if the bicyclist followed the cement path or took a cut across by the pedestrian entrance. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet.

The incident remains under investigation.
