Q2 reports the man shot and killed by Billings Police on Monday morning has been identified as 29-year-old Zachary Hoven. Yellowstone County Coroner Cliff Mahoney said he was shot in the upper torso three times, reportedly by officer Brian Weaver. Police were called to the Sandra Apartment building on North 32nd St. at around 10 a.m. When officers arrived, Hoven reportedly threw knives at one officer in an alley, who fired a Taser at him from outside the building toward the window, however, it either didn’t hit him or otherwise did not subdue him.

Two officers then entered the building and Hoven emerged with a knife tied or affixed to his hand and began moving toward them. He was told to stop and drop the knife. He didn’t comply, and one officer fired his Taser before Weaver fired his handgun.
