Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks officials knew other animals than wolves would be caught in wolf traps, and so far, they have been proved right.

Spokeswoman Vivaca Crowser says so far, in addition to seven wolves, the traps have captured two mountain lions, one coyote and one bobcat.

Crowser says trappers are required to check their traps every 48 hours, as a condition of receiving their license. If a wolf is found captured, it must be immediately shot and the kill reported to Fish Wildlife and Parks.

So far, a total of 102 wolves have been harvested, including the seven captured in traps. The trapping season will continue through the end of February.
