Montana Thanksgiving Week Gas Prices Are Lowest Since 2008

As families prepare to come together for Thanksgiving this week, they’ll have a lot to be thankful for when they pay for gas according to Petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan.

"It's looking very good for motorists as we gear up for that Thanksgiving travel," DeHaan said. "Average prices in Montana down about a penny since Sunday night, currently stand at around $2.22 a gallon, which is down from a year ago when prices were $ 2.31 a gallon. Gas prices nationally are also in a downward trend."

DeHaan says gas prices today look like they did during the recession and that prices are trending lower in nearly all states

"44 of the nation's 50 states have seen gas prices declining in the last week so, it's not just Montana gas prices are going down in most of the country," DeHaan said. "This may be the cheapest Montana has seen Thanksgiving day since 2008."

Gas prices have varied wildly during Thanksgiving week over the past five years, in 2011 and 2012 for example, the price of a gallon of gas in Montana was more than a dollar higher than today.
