Montana Prison Lifts Lockdown of Two High-Security Units

DEER LODGE, Mont. (AP) — Officials have lifted a lockdown imposed last week at the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.
The Montana Standard reports that prison officials locked down two high-security housing units, known as the High Side compound, to investigate a potential security threat beginning April 4.
Officials say the lockdown was lifted Monday at 8 a.m.
Officials say 330 High Side inmates were restricted to their individual cells and that no inmates or staff members were injured at any point during the four-day lockdown.
Officials say an investigation continues, but the prison would not release details concerning the security threat that caused the heightened security status.
The prison says visiting hours were cancelled as part of the lockdown, but regular weekend visitation is scheduled to resume April 13-14.
