Q2 reports that a photographer in Glasgow has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, saying the streaming service for movies, TV series, specials and various original programming used one of his copyrighted photos in their series “Beyond Stranger Things”– a companion show to coincide with the second season of their popular series “Stranger Things”– without his permission. Sean Heavey’s photo entitled “The Mothership” was taken in northeastern Montana near the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in July of 2010. The photo shows a supercell thunderstorm and has been featured in publications such as Discovery, USA Today and National Geographic. The lawsuit was filed on September 13 in Great Falls District Court. Heavey told MTN News in May that Netflix used his photo in “Beyond Stranger Things” Volume 1, Episode 3 to create a concept art piece. Get the whole story at KTVQ.com.
