Missoula Police arrested a couple for a string of thefts last weekend. Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explained what happened.

“On Friday the 18th, between 8:30 and 9:00, an officer engaged in an investigation after running a license plate out of the state of Nevada determining that the vehicle that it was mounted on was in fact stolen,” said Welsh. “The officer initiated a traffic stop and they did pull over and the officer made contact with a male and female in the vehicle.”

The police officer took both people into custody after learning that the woman had warrants out for her arrest.

“The vehicle was in fact stolen and the officer placed the male under arrest for felony theft,” Welsh said. “He identified a female that was also accompanying the male to learn that she had six misdemeanor warrants out of the city of Missoula all for theft. She was also taken into custody. Both were placed in detention in the Missoula County Detention Facility and the vehicle had been seized.”

Juan Munguia-Llamas and Shoni Lankford were scheduled to appear in court today.
