The Lake County Sheriff’s Office pursued and captured 56 year-old James Roylance of Charlo on Saturday, June 9 after he allegedly threatened two women with a machete style knife.

Sheriff Don Bell provided details of the arrest.

“The suspect also purposely rammed into multiple vehicles,” said Bell. “Deputies were able to locate the suspect and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit led into an alfalfa field near Hall Road. In order to keep him in the field and prevent further threats to public safety, a deputy shot out the back tires on the suspect’s vehicle and they used their patrol vehicle to pin the suspect against the fence and take him into custody.”

Bell said Roylance had appeared in court just three days earlier on a nonviolent complaint around Charlo, and he fled the scene. He was apprehended without incident and placed in the Lake County Jail on that offense, but was released after a court appearance.

Roylance is back in the Lake County Jail on several felony charges including assault with a weapon and fleeing from law enforcement.
