A fight broke out just before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning after a woman says she heard two men and a woman yelling at her outside the front door of her residence on Cooley Street. She went out to confront the group and Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says things quickly deteriorated from there.

"One of the males who was identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Stump, actually swung a fist at her, nearly striking her in the face. She picked up a stick to defend herself and there was a struggle. At that point, the other male, who is identified as 28-year-old Edmond Frank, approached her while brandishing a knife in a threatening manner."

The woman broke away, but the chaos continued.

"She ran back into the house to call 911 and as she did so, she began to hear windows breaking in her residence and learned that the two males were actually going around breaking the windows out of her home. They fled the scene prior to officer's arrival and were located a short distance away."

Mr. Stump only received a misdemeanor charge of assault for his role in the fist fight and a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge for breaking windows.  Mr. Frank received a felony assault with a weapon charge for using a knife and later added an obstruction charge to his record after giving a fake name to police. The woman who was with the men received no charges.
