GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A 16-year-old boy suspected in the recent robbery of a Great Falls convenience store now faces charges after a guard was threatened with a sharpened toothbrush at the Cascade County juvenile detention center.

The boy is charged with five felonies, including aggravated kidnapping and attempted escape.

Court records say a 57-year-old corrections officer was escorting the boy to his cell after a shower on Tuesday when the guard said the boy demanded she take him to another youth's cell so they could escape. Police say security cameras captured video of the boy grabbing the guard by the throat and threatening her with the make-shift knife.

The boy was confronted by two male prison guards and the female guard was able to slip away. The guards subdued him and called police.
