On July 29, 2022, at approximately 2:30 am, a Montana Highway Patrol trooper and Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputy were dispatched to reports of a Semi truck driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate I-90 near mile marker 119 in Missoula County.

There were six separate callers reporting the truck driving the wrong way. It was a FedEx Truck pulling two trailers. The trooper and deputy observed the truck on the interstate head-on and were forced off the road to avoid a collision.

Officers turned around and stopped the truck at mile marker 116. The driver was removed from the vehicle and detained. The driver’s pants were unfastened and court documents indicate he had urinated on himself. The driver was identified as 53-year-old Steven Maisano.

Maisano has a Class-A commercial driver’s license. Maisano’s eyes were red, watery, and bloodshot. The trooper could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Maisano’s speech was slow, slurred, and confused.

Maisano refused field sobriety testing. He stated “I’m f****d up” and “put he in jail.” Initially, he refused to provide a Preliminary Breath Test. However, he was read the implied consent advisory and agreed to provide a breath sample. He provided a breath sample on an intoxilyzer with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .153. He was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. Maisano is currently being charged with six counts of felony criminal endangerment and driving while under the influence.
