Former St. Vincent Employee Suing

A former St. Vincent Healthcare employee is suing the hospital for disability discrimination, age discrimination and wrongful termination.  U.S. District Judge Susan Watters ruled last Friday that the suit can proceed to trial in Billings’ federal court.  61-year-old Roxanna Jackson, a longtime employee of St. Vincent who has special needs including learning and speech disabilities, was fired in August 2014 after 37 years from her job as an instrument technician, according to court records filed by her attorney, Eric Holm.

Jackson now lives in Colorado.  Her complaint against St. Vincent alleges a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Montana Human Rights Act by subjecting her to disability discrimination, age discrimination, retaliation and wrongful discharge.  She had no disciplinary issues until 2013, when a new supervisor wanted her to work faster and perform more complex jobs.
